Dick Wolf, also known as Richard Anthony Wolf, was born on December 20 1946, in the city of New York, United States. His father was Jewish and was an advertising executive in the profession. His mother, Marie G, was catholic and belonged to Irish Descent.

Wolf spent his childhood days in Manhattan and was raised there. He received his early education from Saint David’s School and later attended Phillips Academy and the Gunnery.

Wolf subsequently received his degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He graduated in 1969 as a class and Zeta Psi fraternity member.
